Learning Poverty is Growing Bigger and Faster.
Children from low-income families receive fewer opportunities for talent and academic enrichment than children from higher-income backgrounds.
As the school year progresses, these children aren't able to follow the teachings due to poor comprehension, which leads to lower self-confidence.
Falling Behind in School is Setting Them Back Even Further
As a result, they fall behind, lose interest in attending school and eventually become more susceptible to bad influences. These lead to poor life choices and reduce the chances of breaking free from the poverty cycle.
The solution to "more schooling" does not work. Instead, we opt for "purposeful learning" by focusing on talent development to help the children expand their capacity to learn.
Meet Zakwan
This is Zakwan, 9 years old. Despite struggling in school, he showed immense interest in football.
Upon discovering his talent, we arranged his admission to a local football academy. All related expenses are fully covered.
Today he is a happy kid, growing in confidence and showing more interest in learning.
There are many other high-potential children from low-income families who struggle the same.
We can help them too.

Why cash assistance instead of goods? As we communicate regularly with the families under our care, we realise that each family have their own unique struggles and circumstances. Understandably, different family have different preferences, or due to certain sickness, they have a certain diet or food intake to observe. Some, paying rent is the first thing on their list each month, while for others is to obtain certain treatment or medication. The priorities and commitments of each family are different hence we let the family decide how they want to spend their monthly cash assistance based on their priorities. Besides its efficiency, cash assistance also empowers them to take charge and manage their finances better.
-
What happens if the families don't send their proof of monthly expenditure or updates progress to ARBA Foundation? We will contact them to verify their current situation. If it is for an unacceptable excuse, they will be disqualified from the Nadi project.
-
How does ARBA Foundation ensures that the cash assistance is appropriately used by the families?First, each family that are accepted for Nadi project are thoroughly verified. On top of that, each family must send proof of their monthly expenses for us to keep track of their spending behaviour, priorities and progress financially. Once we had verified their submission and get updated on their current situation, then only the families will receive the cash assistance for the following month.
